OCTA San Juan Creek Bridge Replacement Project: Trail Closure
San Juan Capistrano, Calif.- The segment of the San Juan Creek Trail depicted in red on the site map below is currently closed and will re-open January 16, as the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) continues construction activities on the San Juan Creek Bridge Replacement Project.
The closure will occur during work hours from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on. During the closure, the trail will be closed to the public from Camino Capistrano to the pedestrian bridge over Trabuco Creek. Trail users will be detoured to Camino Capistrano, Del Obispo Street, and the Trabuco Creek Trail.

Throughout construction, the public and businesses adjacent to the work area may experience noise and vibration from demolition and drilling activities. For more information, please visit the OCTA project webpage.
Project Overview
The total Project cost is estimated at $65.6 million.
OCTA, in coordination with Metrolink, is replacing the railroad bridge over San Juan Creek in the City of San Juan Capistrano to enhance safety, reduce maintenance needs and meet current design and bridge load standards.
The existing bridge will be demolished, and a new foundation and substructure will be constructed in its place for a potential future bridge. San Juan Creek is home to environmentally sensitive wildlife and habitat and the area is difficult to access for construction, so if a future need arises for a second bridge the supporting infrastructure is in place.
