KABOOM! playground to be built in One Day!

Anaheim, Calif. – More than 50 kids recently joined the Anaheim Ducks, the city of Anaheim and KABOOOM! to help design Anaheim's next playground.

The kids drew designs including climbing walls, monkey bars, playhouses, swings and other features they want to see in their playground. Their input will go toward the final design for a new 4,300-square-foot KABOOM! playground to be built in one day on Sept. 16.

The kids got an assist from more than 30 Ducks prospect players ― recent draft picks and future hopefuls for the Anaheim Ducks lineup at Honda Center.

Ducks Head Coach Dallas Eakins also was on hand, as was Wild Wing, the Ducks' fan-favorite mascot, and the Ducks Street Team.

Sept 16: Save the Date

The playground, which will open shortly after being built on Sept. 16, will be the first phase in the transformation of a grassy field into Center Greens, a downtown park next to Anaheim City Hall and the Downtown Anaheim Community Center.

The 3.5-acre Center Greens will include a new basketball court, skate park, an obstacle course, a loop walking trail and more. The complete park is set to open in 2023.

After the design session, the kids joined Ducks prospect players, Wild Wing and the Street Team playing backyard hockey, cornhole and Jenga, all part of the team's support for health and wellness of kids and families in Anaheim.

The Ducks squad will return on Sept. 16 for the one-day build of the new playground.

This will be the 15th KABOOM! playground in Anaheim and the first sponsored by the Anaheim Ducks, rallying neighbors around the common goal of improving communities for our kids.

Mission of KABOOM!

We unite with communities to build kid-designed playspaces that can spark joy and foster a sense of belonging for the kids who are often denied opportunities to thrive.

Our mission: end playspace inequity for good.
