Kayak Cleanup Newport Beach

February 5, 2022 @ 7:30 am 9:30 am

Kayak Cleanup

Join us to cleanup trash on the water in the Upper Newport Bay!

The Newport Bay Conservancy (NBC) in partnership with California's Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) and Newport-Irvine Rotary Club is pleased to return to hosting a Kayak Cleanup!

These are typically held on the first Saturday of every month during the wintertime (during non-nesting season). All participants will have up to 90 minutes on the bay to pick up any floating debris from their kayaks.

Free to Attend

Free to attend but be prepared to work (please only reserve for the number of people you are sure will attend-cancel spots if you are not able to go). Every cleanup starts out with a introduction to the Bay and how to kayak. Individuals must arrive by 7:30 a.m. to check in and get all the instructions to be safe out on the water. All participants will be led with trained Conservancy volunteers.

Everyone must wear an approved Personal Floation Device (PFD) while on the Bay – NO EXCEPTIONS. No one under eight (8) years of age will be allowed on the water. All minors (under 18) must have a parent or guardian present on the water participating in the event. Children (ages 8 – 11) must have a parent or guardian in the same kayak with them. Kayaks, paddles, PFDs, gloves, trash bags, and clean-up tools will be available. You may bring your own as well.

Onsite and Online Registration

Onsite registration will also be available on a first-come-first-served basis on the day of the event. Latecomers or families with children under 8 years of age can still come to help clean up the trash from the shoreline.
